ORIE...episode one

©nnamdiudoka '17
Without touching it Edozie knew there was blood on his lip.
He rolled his tongue across the front of his teeth to check if any one was amiss. A tiny relief coursed through his skin when he found they were sore but complete. He lumbered to his feet and slowly knocked the dust from his hips.
"Izunna you punched me!"
His ten year old assailant stepped a few steps back with wary eyes and bunched little fists.

THE FALCONER

I've often sought to make lonesome trips to space
climb on your wings and brace
as you takeoff, fly off with ceaseless grace
and vanish without a single trace

I'd sit casually
and dream that its real.
hear the whirr of the swift passing wind

The sound of a man breaking

Its the sound his brain makes when he's lost in thought
The screech screech that escapes through his ears
When his mental devices are crumbling
When his ineptitude is telling

Do you believe everything you're told? Does the fact that a certain message came from a supposed higher life form add unarguable credibility to it? Do you ponder over what you've been taught till truth stares you in the face or do you respect tradition and just continue in the steps of your forebears? Accurate knowledge isn't relative. Truth is truth. I know the truth!

Pre-colonial Igbo societies of East Nigeria hated twin children. Abhorred as abominations and curses from the gods, twins were killed off immediately after birth.

I’ve often pondered the could-have-beens had these kids

The Palm Assembly
If Palm trees held a meeting
In the depths of the vast rain forest
If palm trees all convened
Would you love to watch them a speak?

I have had the greatest of pleasures
To have witnessed a meeting like this
